Trying to tempt them to my hand - no luck. They much preferred the feeder. Look for the single Rufus Hummingbird joining the party. He's the "orange" one. (The above videos were taken roughly one year apart. And again, a single Rufus in the mix. I wonder if it's the same little guy????)
To level, start with a VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF WATER - locate the lower end - wrap string around the nail until it's approximately level.
The hummingbirds can easily reach to the bottom of the reservoir, so I only fill it to 2/3 or 3/4 full.
Sometimes I just shoot a garden hose through it!
Easily mount to the bottom of your window with closet-rod brackets available at most hardware stores.

Leave the "filler hole" uncovered to encourage Oriloes and Woodpeckers. I've also had visits from Yellow rumped warblers, titmice and vireos.
I only cover the filler hole if bees show up.
